Over 1.000 companies are facing infected WordPress websites whose security is threatened by JavaScript backdoors. The attack method uses four different backdoors for maximum damage. Companies must therefore implement proactive security strategies.
The Westerwaldzeitung informed in this article about a guest lecture by our co-founder Immanuel at the business meeting of the Wallmerod municipality. In his keynote speech on the topic of corporate security, he addressed the question “How secure are company secrets?” and talked about “From the everyday life of a professional hacker”.
“I am Immanuel.”
VG Mayor Klaus Lütkefedder announced Immanuel as an “absolute expert” on the subject of digitalization and IT security. Said expert prefers to introduce himself simply with “I am Immanuel”. He made the urgency of the lecture's topic clear by the fact that cybercrime worldwide now has a larger turnover than the drug market.
First, Immanuel explained what hackers (or penetration testers) like him do to make companies more secure: When a company hires ProSec, our penetration testers try to hack into that company's systems. We act like real attackers - except that we don't cause any damage, but rather point out security gaps and give tips on how they can be closed. In this way, professional hackers contribute to company security.
“We do crazy things!”
Our customers are not limited to companies: governments and secret services are also among our clients, as Immanuel reports in his lecture. “Yes, we do crazy things,” the article quotes our co-founder in his typically entertaining manner.
The Cologne wisdom “Et hät noch emmer joot jejange” is also entertaining, but when it comes to IT security, this is absolutely inappropriate, Immanuel continues. He illustrates this with a live demonstration: In a search engine for the “Internet of Things” (IoT), which is freely accessible to everyone, he found content from numerous companies worth protecting in a matter of seconds. From webcams to machine controls, he could have easily taken over the companies' corresponding devices.
Malicious hackers can also obtain this information in other ways, but for companies themselves, this search engine for Internet-connected devices offers the opportunity to discover and remediate their own security vulnerabilities. If there is a lack of specialist knowledge within the company, you should get “someone who is familiar with it at your side,” said Immanuel in his presentation. ProSec is available with the highest level of specialist knowledge and personal advice.
Our ProSec co-founder made it clear how much he enjoyed being part of the business meeting in the Westerwald, because “[m]ou shouldn’t forget where you come from!”
The introductory words of VG boss Lütkefedder at the beginning of the event captured the motivation at ProSec very well: In order to solve local problems regionally and remain an attractive region, “you need committed people and companies that move forward”.

Hackers use misconfigurations in AWS for targeted phishing attacks. Companies are thus unknowingly opening their IT infrastructure to attacks. Traditional security measures often fail to defend against this threat.
Security researchers discover a security hole in Apple's "Find My" network that enables industrial espionage. Using the "nRootTag" method, attackers can secretly turn devices into tracking devices. Companies around the world are alarmed and are looking for protective measures.
