Penetration testers typically identify several paths to success within a few hours during an assessment. Most of these paths are not new. They have simply never been viewed from the perspective of management.

For you as the managing director. Not for your IT department.

This training is for you if you…

✔ Managing directors, board members or part of the management of a company affected by NIS2 are

✔ If you wish to comply with your personal training obligation according to § 38 para. 3 BSIG, you will be documented and proceed directly.

✔ Want to understand what you approve, monitor, and are responsible for in case of emergency, without having to implement it technically yourself?

✔ You need reliable proof for your compliance file.

✔ No prior IT knowledge is required – the training is deliberately geared towards the management and supervisory level.

NOT INTENDED FOR

✔ IT administrators or information security officers – the obligation under Section 38 Paragraph 3 expressly applies to the management level and is not delegable.

✔ Employees who require general security awareness training

✔ For companies seeking a technical NIS2 implementation – we would be happy to support you separately as part of our NIS2 compliance consulting services.

What you as a managing director will take with you

Duty fulfilled

Your personal training obligation according to § 38 para. 3 BSIG has been documented as fulfilled.

Grip under control

You know what you are personally liable for and how to protect yourself.

Decision-making confidence

You ask your team and your service providers the right questions.

Prepared for emergencies

You know your role when a report must be submitted to the BSI within 24 hours.

Five modules. Three areas of expertise: identifying risks, evaluating measures, assessing impacts.

  • Classification of one's own impact (particularly important / important institution)
  • Practical introduction using a typical attack example.
  • The current threat situation assessed based on facts
  • Implementation, approval and monitoring obligations in detail
  • Personal liability of management and its limits
  • Demarcation: what can be delegated and what cannot.
  • Simple methodology (risk matrix, "crown jewel" principle) without prior IT knowledge
  • Principle of proportionality according to Section 30 Paragraph 1 BSIG
  • Four strategies for dealing with significant risks
  • For each measure: legal requirement, management decision, typical mistake
  • Review framework for your own approval decision
    • Anonymized, typical case patterns from administration and business
    • Derivation of which measure would have prevented or limited the damage in each case
In conclusion: Summary, proof of participation for your compliance file and concrete next steps for your organization.

What happens when precisely these measures are lacking?

In Module 5, we assign such typical case patterns specifically to the ten measures under Section 30 and show which of them would have prevented or limited the damage.

The service provider as a single point of failure

An unsecured remote access without multi-factor authentication is enough to compromise a central IT service provider and thus paralyze all connected facilities for weeks.

When the administration is at a standstill for days

A ransomware attack encrypts the central systems. As a result, core processes and payouts cannot be processed for weeks, and a full recovery takes months.

NIS2

That's what managing directors ask us.

Yes. Section 38 Paragraph 3 of the BSIG (Federal Office for Information Security Act) explicitly addresses management. This obligation cannot be delegated to the IT department.

No. It's about your personal ability to approve and monitor risk management measures. Nobody can do that for you.

No. While its content is based on the BSI Act as amended by the NIS-2 Implementation Act (BSIG 2025), it is not a BSI-certified or BSI-recognized training course. Furthermore, it does not constitute legal advice.

No. The training does not require any prior IT knowledge and is deliberately geared towards the management and supervisory level, not towards technical implementation.

Yes. You will receive a documented certificate of participation, which you can include in your compliance file as proof of due diligence.

The law does not specify a fixed frequency. Regular testing is mandatory; however, at least annual testing, in accordance with the BSI guidelines on regularity, is recommended.
